Planning started
  • For entry in Telford 2002 competition - less than 2002 sq in
  • Exhibition use - light weight and rugged - fit into estate car
  • Freight shunting and mainline operations - BR(S) 1960s / 70s
  • Use existing combined rolling stock

August
2001
Planning finished! Several designs explored, when the 'wedge shape' high and low level plan evolved and then bent into the 'banana shape'. Baseboard construction design and drawings start. The C&L 3-way tandem turnout started.
 
October
2001
Main baseboard pair construction started using 6mm birch plywood and glue and pins. The ends panels are 12mm thick.

2001

The eleven arches are produced as resin castings from a rubber mould.

 
December
2001
Track laying starts. The plain track is Peco and the 3-way turnout is hand made using C&L components.
 
January
2002
The main electrics are wired and tested. The Tortoise turnout motors work well. The first exhibition outing at Bognor Regis. The first of two fiddle yard boards is built.
 
February
2002
Track balasting. Start made on the warehouse building and parapet walls.
 
March
2002
Bridge started and Dingham autocouplers.
 
April
2002
Second exhibition outing, (with major scenic items in place) at Bushey.
 
July
2002
Lighting gantry and fiddle yard 2 finished

Aug
2002
Finishing off, weathering, grass, drain pipes, clutter...
Completed.
